...Since environmental considerations are an integral part of Apple's business practices, Apple Training and Certification is pleased to introduce a new Green certificate fulfillment process. Beginning August 1, paper certificates will no longer be sent to Mac OS X and Pro Apps students who pass certification exams. Instead, students will receive an email with a link to download a PDF version of their certificate at no charge. Students will be able to print these certificates, but we hope that most will choose to simply post the PDF certificates on their websites.

Tip: iLife including Aperture 2 using the Themes from iDVD plus a little help from Snapz Pro X…of course the ever so cool GarageBand with iMovie, creating simple 15 and 30 second Video clips on the fly…or just having fun on the Mac

Taken advantage of the iDVD Themes in a different way, this is a simple work-around very basic but fun and if you use Snapz Pro X for your screenshots then why don’t you try the Movie capture option, this option can give you some very cool results, it is fast and easy to use.

I only used a couple of Themes but in iDVD you have so many to choose from…try experimenting and you find there are a lot of cool things you can do.

...Pick a couple of images drop them into your iDVD Theme and you almost there, if you using Snapz Pro X choose the Movie option and record your iDVD theme.

...Now we are in 2008 and seeing images like this…very colorful and creative…so I decided to bring you Images which I took some 30 years ago…no Aperture and Photoshop then.

The images are related somehow, showing art in its oldest and most recent form, the Australian Aboriginals used to use earth color (Ochre) and paint on Tree bark or retouch 40 thousand year old paintings in caves…now it is Inkjet Printers that translate our artwork on to paper, an amazing contrast.

...When I received the email from Santosh I was working on some old Australian Aboriginal images and that gave me the Idea to show the ancient and new way of reproducing our thoughts and Ideas…now that is contrast!

... Enjoy the images and thanks to Santosh for letting me use his Image… see below his recent letter to me…I guess he is just about to move over to Aperture 2.

iLife is not only iPhoto, you have iTunes, Garageband, iMovie, iDVD & iWeb it is a whole package, now it is up to you how to apply each and every one of them, been so integrated you end up using them all, like I do for some cool presentations.

...I have been asked over and over again…I am using a Mac and like to use Aperture 2 but I have done all my previous work in Lightroom, is it possible to transfer all my Data over to Aperture 2 and not loosing all the info and hours of hard labor?

This subject has come up many times and until very recently I could not answers these questions, and I have to be honest here I have no Idea about Lightroom, I started with Aperture 1.0 been happy since day one and working now faster and more efficient in Aperture 2, some of my previous blogs with samples have shown and proven this only to well.

...Why should we deny Mac users Aperture 2 if they would like to make the switch, and if you ask me it makes a lot of sense, if you a Mac user then you are so much better off with Aperture just for the integration alone plus with all these new plug-ins.

Apple is aware of it and from past experience a solution is going to be available one of these days, I hope soon for all you out there who like to make the switch.

...Aperture 2 unlike Photoshop let me work on my images up to a point…and this is the part I really like, you don’t get tempted to move some “heads around”, a great management system, nice editing tools you do need for digital files and a few other cool tools and applications.

But manipulation is out…if I like to do that then I switch to Photoshop or buy some new plug –ins for Aperture 2, the nice part is and this is real great…with Aperture 2 YOU can choose and set it up the way you like it, customizing to suit your type of photography.

...I like the way Aperture evolved, but I feel to much attention has been given to all these plug ins, yes if you do commercial work go for it, but NO if you do serious creative, Journalistic and real life work, because you like to look into the eyes of your client and say… YES this is the real thing you can take my word for it…

...Only a few years ago we had our negatives or slides and could prove what was real and what had been manipulated…I guess now we can only rely on our Raw images, one more reason to shoot Raw only, what I am trying to say is, that it is getting harder and harder to prove these days what is real and what is not…please think about and form your own opinion like I have with all my blah, blah above.

...Take my Son Mark-Lee for example… he is doing some part time DJ work and he uses my old but still very functional Titanium Mac G4 Laptop, using GarageBand and creating his own artwork in Photoshop, see above…pretty cool if you ask me.

...If you are a music lover and created your own mix, of course you can use these too...but please don’t use something from the iTunes Store or from other sources, Music which does not belong to you, respect the copyright of others.

...Once you have arrived here you have many options and your iTunes Library is there too, now you find your sound track which you have created only minutes before, select it go through your slide show settings and your done.

...Of course you can always prepare some music at Home and later use it for your Aperture Slideshow, I have created my own tracks when traveling and the weather was bad, spend my time in the hotel room, mixing sound tracks in GarageBand... but at least I had some fun.

As a matter of fact you can do this not only with iPhoto but also with your images stored on your external drives from years ago as mention in one of my earlier blogs.

...The choice is yours how you like to manage your images, it is easy to import your complete iPhoto Library and use Aperture 2.1 working with one software.

...A little tip... if you have mixed up your personal images with some others but like to separate them, import the iPhoto Library into Aperture, once that is done delete all the personal images in Aperture and your images are organized, dont worry your personal images are still in the iPhoto Library since you selected in the import panel leave in current location.

...This is a screen shot of my iPhoto Library and you can see (I selected the underwater images) they are now in my Aperture Library.

...Show and Hide Camera & Color info...the red oval shows you the data, you have to be in the adjustment mode/panel.

...You can also move your Cursor over the image to get the color Value in between the images, the grey area will show you the Camera info.

...You can also move your cursor over your Thumbnails... for those of you who are still in the early stage of Photography this command is great for analyzing your images quickly.

...Aperture is not only great for the Pro's but it can help you to take better images by quickly finding out what went wrong or right.

I am a Photojournalist/Travel Photographer, I like my images the way I saw them…even before the digital age I have never used any filters, the only thing I do now is remove the odd sensor dust, cropping and straightening and of course the great black & white conversion.

...I am not a Photoshop guy who enhances the images… no need before, why now…but I love the ability to export my files direct from within Aperture 2 to my PhotoShelter archives and PhotoShelter Collection, the latest plug in is very cool, plus I can create a nice .

...These are the things I love more than anything…lets take PhotoShelter as an example I have the ability to upload my images from just about any location provided I have a connection, not only having the possibility of a sale but just for safe keeping in a different location, it is just like another backup system & you know how important that is.

OK. for our studio guys and commercial Photographers some of these plug-ins are a welcome new addition to Aperture 2.1 and some of them come in very handy for sure, making the job so much more efficient and easy but for me filters and other new plug-ins are not much of an advantage, I like to spend more time in the field.

...However on these rare occasion I do shoot Black &White and sometimes it looks even better... more down to earth and real...no need to carry a second or third camera around with you, Aperture 2 can do all of this after the shoot and the nice part is...you still have the original color images after the conversion.

...All you have to do is... go to the Monochrome Mixer in the Adjustments Panel and there you find all you need including these color filters we used to use during the old days in front of the lens.

...I dont call this manipulation in the Computer... remember you are not in Photoshop...this is just like the old fashion darkroom... even before I converted some slides into a Black & White image in the darkroom... nothing new except is has become a lot easier and remember it is the image you created in the first place that will leave a lasting impression.

I LOVE COLOR but sometime Black & White is beautiful too and I am by no means against it, I love good Black & White images and it is so great that we still can do this today except for all these chemicals, I guess if you look at it this way, Aperture is very much environmental friendly.

If you book a Safari trip with Calypso Diving then you have a good chance to see them in Panagatan and if you go to Kashmir in India you might find some of their relative in sedimentary rocks as fossils.

...But did you know that Whales “lived on land” according to some new discoveries... check out this amazing article below that has just rolled

...Remains found in the Kashmir region of India suggest the fox-sized mammal is the long-sought land-based ancestor of whales, dolphins and porpoises.

...Whales are known to be descended from land-dwellers but the "missing link" has been a mystery until now…for more interesting reading and photos click the link below:

...I roamed the streets for a few days after the Aperture event in Mumbai and decided to shoot some images just from the car window, easy to do since the traffic is slow and you be amazed what you can capture…see below only some examples.

...More on my main website very soon… but now to Boracay… a commercial shoot but I decided to show you today something a bit different…low light, color and movement these images where taken in between the commercial shoot when ever I had the time.

I am back for a month now and catch up with some long overdue blogs and more on Aperture 2 or should I say Aperture 2.1

...It has proven again and again that without Aperture I be spending to much time after the shoot... another 3000 plus Images just from the Boracay trip and I am almost done with my editing and I just walked into the door this morning, I might mention briefly again the new feature during import…do not import duplicates I keep this activated all the time now, silly me mixed up some CF Cards again but hence this very useful new Feature in Aperture 2 no problems.

Yes it's been only some 12 hours since I have returned from Mumbai and now the sun is out and I have to go again...

...I have transferred the Images from my Indian trip to my Mac Pro... the project from Mumbai...done some editing and cleaned my laptop ready for Boracay... super organized and very efficient.

...I survived the red hot chili peppers and the great curries in India, the Apple Aperture Event was just great... the colors and contrast I had been looking for I found plenty full...

...I am sorry... more tips on the new and amazing features in Aperture 2 have to wait until I get back from Boracay Island...

Aperture World Tour, the event in Mumbai India...Aperture 2...great people & so much contrast and color...the Journey continues...

Yes you have guessed right the Apple Aperture event in Mumbai is completed and I am hanging around for a few extra days and realized that I should have come to India a lot sooner.

...See below some images from the Apple Aperture event and in the coming days I feature some images from my few days in and around Mumabi, yes Aperture 2 came again very handy, since the event I have shot some 1800 images in just a few days, it really helps to have a Road Warrior like Aperture around.

...The only drawback since the digital age and the arrival of Aperture is that I get less sleep... in the old days you just marked your rolls of film and went to bed, but now you upload them and start editing right away...well do I get carried away, my fault...

...Anyway with Aperture 2.1 at least it is quick and very efficient not like before spending hours on end in Photoshop, now I can get some sleep which reminds me I have to hit the sheets soon. Sorry for the delay of this Blog from Mumbai, but I hope you understand that I rather shoot and create images then writing all night long... there is just to much contrast and color around me at the moment.

...A simplified UI makes it easier to preserve an image's original aspect ratio, match the aspect ratio of your display, or use one of the standard preset aspect ratios.

...A contextual menu allows you to choose the Show on Map by right-clicking (or Control-clicking) on an image that contains GPS data.

...Automator actions have been added to Save as PDF pop-up menu in the Print Book window to automatically generate JPEG or TIFF images from book pages.

...Indian Team mate Aditya Patel had a good start from 7th place on the grid whilst Ross Jamison of Hong Kong, Simon Moss of South Africa and Sean McDonagh of Korea took the lead, leaving the others behind, struggling for visibility.

...“I had to start from 10th place again, but this time I felt more at ease and started to enjoy the race and overtake some people. ... I have to work hard on my qualifying and driving technique, since most of the other drivers have already some racing experience in cars”, says Stockinger, ending the race in 8th position overall and 3rd in the Rookie Cup respectively. Moss, Jamison and McDonagh made the podium whereas Patel was forced to retire as a result of damage inflicted after he was punted into a spin at the first turn.

...I did some pre editing since my connection was just not there...at least I had a head start before I got back to Manila. ... Great action from Sepang in soaring heat and a heavy tropical shower during the Formula BMW's first race, Marlon Stockingers first major race... straight into the unknown... heavy rain a real challenge for him. ... I shot some 3000 images and Aperture 2 went through it without a glitch, as a matter of fact I could not have done it with out Aperture, working every night with my Mac Book Pro and two external Lacie hard drives storing the files during import as reference files, the second drive for back up purpose.

I got sunburned and looked like a red Ferrari...then I got drenched in the rain including my Cameras... but it was fun being there, thanks to Tom Stockinger and the fantastic Eurasia team a great bunch to hang around with.

...Sorry for the inconvenience but I make up for it in the next few days with some images from all the races and behind the scenes.

...Today has been my first day in Sepang, everybody is getting ready for the F1 race, Formula BMW with Marlon Stockingers first race, the Porsche Carrera Cup and the GP 2 Asia.

The temperature soared today, I got my usual sunburn and look like a red Ferrari now, but we had a chance to watch the F1 cars doing their practice run and of-course all the interesting action in the Pit with the Formula BMW and the GP 2 Asia.

...Check out some of the images from this hot very hot day, but I dont think this is going to stop the fast and furious...well it slowed me down a bit, as predicted Aperture 2 performed just great uploading was a breeze and the editing went just as planed...only a slow connection today.
